Question
I'd love an explanation on the following three questions!
3. What is the torque produced about point A?
I know to use the formula T=Fr, I'm just not sure how to find r
4. What is the torque produced about point A?
Again, not sure how to find the moment arm, r.
5. Consider the following object which is in static equilibrium.
a) What must Fy equal in order to keep the object in static equilibrium?
b) What is the resultant contact force (joint reaction force) at point A?
No idea how to do this one, thank you :)
Explanation / Answer
The torque is given by force into lever arm
The cos component of the force is F
and 0.5 is the lever arm
4)F=125
Lever arm=0.5 mts since F perpendicular to R
5)500*2=Fy*6
Fy=1000/6=166.66
Force=500-166.66 Downwards
