5. Suppose that, upon graduation, you are offered a job with a compa- ny in another state and you accept. Subsequently, you receive an offer from a different company that is more attractive in every way than the one you had already accepted. Suppose it not only offers a greater salary but is in exactly the kind of activity you have been seeking, offers great opportunity, and will make it possible for you and your spouse to live reasonably close to your family (assuming the latter possibility is a positive and not a negative factor for you). 1. Ethical responsibilities are moral obligations towards the organization. Which includes loyalty, caring, respect and candor.
2. When it comes to getting a better opportunity, employees usually follow no moral obligation to refuse, which are self serving rationalizations. As per my ethical code, I am bound to keep the word to the first employers as I have already accepted the offer.
3. Though this opportunity looks tempting, promise keeping is a core ethical value for me. As it would be new job after graduation, instead of looking for better opportunity in terms of money, career advancement, I would try to gain as much as work experience in that particular field so that in future opportunities will follow.
4. Selecting the second opportunity ultimately will be more beneficial for the happier family life, but as it is matter of time, where in future such more opportunities will be available. As of now work ethics suggest to keep the company first in your thoughts and action.
5. The core ethical values of business in both the academic as well as work reflects your promise keeping ability, standard of integrity and professionalism.
