Once we submit a research paper it is taken up by the journal editorial board for deciding to accept it for publication or regret for inability to publish. Though this decision apparently seems to be simple, but in reality the decision is taken after going through a complex process comprising of multiple activities and involvement of quiet a few other persons. Review and screening is becoming even more important because according to some estimates about 3 million articles are submitted every year and ensuring quality of articles being published is a mammoth task.

Though the actual process of review may vary from journal to journal depending upon its editorial policy, but certain commonalities can be identified as follows.

Different journal may have additional criterions for evaluation. Evaluation of submitted article based on above criterion can only be done by a subject expert and seasoned researcher in the area of study.
