In class so far, we have covered the modern approaches to organizing. In particular, we have looked at the three "primary" approaches: classical, human relations, and human resources. As we discussed in class, much of current human resources practices are actually more aligned from the classical approach than the original human resources philosophy. In 3-4 double-spaced pages, make an argument detailing (a) why certain elements of the classical approach to organizing are still prevalent in organizations, (b) the benefits and limitations of continuing these classical strategies for organizations, and (c) why other more worker-centric strategies (as advocated in a human resources approach) have not been utilized to the extent of more classical strategies. After addressing these three issues, conclude with how the American organization would look different if the human resources approach was actually fully utilized.

Answer: a) Classical approach are categorise as two sub groups : scientific management and bureaucracy .Certain element of classical approach to organising are still prevalent in organisations becauseif we talk about scientific management approach under classical school of thoughts, when Taylor has given his theories it was the time of reorganisations of industries and Was a time of disclosure of a complex organisations emerging with new technology. Taylor’s approach is based on the workers' and management's efficiency in organisations. Today also organisations feel the relevance of the scientific management because they believe that this approach lead to enhance the relationship between the management–workers and also facilitate to improve the industrial efficiency. Taylor has presented an instrumental approach that is based on the human behaviour and implementation of standard procedures related to work. Taylor’s work give rise to extreme thinking.On the other hand, Today many organisations has large number of executives with bureaucratic characteristics but today executives shows more trust on professional judgement and self-regulation rather than relying on the control by imposing rules and regulations.In this new era of new forms of industries still many researchers suggest that bureaucracy characteristics are very relevant and successful in organising the giant business structures.

Benefits of continuing classical strategies for organisations:As we know classical management strategies are still implemented by many small or big organisations. Benefits of these strategies are:
1) Classical management strategies provide well defined structure of organisations with clear explanation of organisational hierarchy at three management level and also defines the responsibilities and accountability of executives at each level.with three distinct management levels. This is beneficial for the businesses which are in growth phase or expanding their business.
2)Classical management approach is beneficial because it explain the criterion of task management through division of labor. It suggest the easy way of completing the complex tasks and also explains the responsibilities and what are the expectations from them.So, this approach is very beneficial in this era of multi tasking to improve the productivity.
3)This strategy has explained the incentive system and provided an easy option of controlling the workforce. It has defined that Employees should be appreciated for the motivation.
Limitations of classical strategies:
1) Classical labour theory is not able to explain how to determine the factor price or commodity price in modern era.
2)This theory has failed to explain the process of changes in efficiency of a modern economy.
3) classical theory is based on the false assumption of trading countries contains competitive markets. Actually, this does not exist.
So, These are the limitations of continuing these classical strategies for organizations.

Today in the era of globalisation companies are competing at international level.This task require the high level commitment and and knowledge about cultures, buying behaviour, management style and basic principles of management structure.Classical theories gives a great explanation of these concepts and with the help of these classical strategies organisation can easily understand the operations and management style of other organizations internationally. The Henry Fayol’s five principles helps in assessing the business structures helps in the decision making it also enable to assess the communication in an appropriate way thats why other more work -centric strategies have not been utilised to the extent of classical strategies.
American organisations would have look different if the human resources approach was actually fully utilised.As we know still organisations in US are using the classical approach.If they would have adopted the Human resource approach, it would have changed the structure of the organisations as classical strategies explains the different picture of leadership characteristics but human resource approach facilitate to align the personnel goals with the organisational goals. As based on the classical approach US organisations mainly focus on the formal structure of management and organizational processes but if these organizations would have adopted the human resource approach they it would have changed the point of view of organizations from more structured to human oriented. It would have changed the leadership style,Decision making process, work management.It would have made the US based organizations more focused towards the people management programs.
