How should a business plan be structured and what should it include?
Ans: Business plan is a document which describes a new business, product and services, its goals and plans for reaching them. The structure of business plan should have-
(a) Overview of business concept,
(b) Plan to achieve the objectives,
(c) Management team and ownership structure,
(d) Product and services,
(e) Marketing strategy,
(f) Financial summary.

Now we will discuss the they key elements of a succesfull business plan. A Business plan should include:-

(a) Executive summary - It is a short document produced for business purposes. The main purpose of this document is to summarize the report in such a way that reader become aware of body of material.

(b) Business overview - It includes company information and summary of type of business, location and means of conducting business.

(c) Operational Plan - It describes the functions of business and the physical setup(supply chain, warehouse, distribution channel).

(d) Market analysis - It includes the overview of market and plans to attract the target audience. The analysis is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of a market. It also gathers information about conditions that affect a marketplace.

(e) Products and Services - This describes the quality and quantity of product and services and plans with brief description of each.

(f) Sales and Marketing - This describes the price of goods and services, branding and advertising efforts. It also tells the reasons why the target audience will purchase their product and services.

(g) Competitive Analysis - It is the analysis of strength and weakness of competitors. The advantage of our strategy over the competitors.

(h) Management Team - It incules the resume and supporting documents of key players involved in the business.

(i) Financial Plan - This includes the business expenses, salaries, taxes, insurance cost, branding expenses, amont needed to sustain business for 1-3 yrs. It clearly mentions plans to use funds.

(j) Projections - As the word suggest it includes balance sheets and income statements. These statements are prepared considering 2-3 year plan.
