Question
I need help with my viscosity experiment. I weighed out 1.0400 g of polymer and prepared a sample and dissolved in 50.0 mL of solvent. Then transfered a 25.0 mL aliquot of the polystyrene solution to a 50.0 mL volumetric flask and diluted with solvent to the mark. This is my 1/2 concentrated solution. Then transfered 25.0 mL aliquot of my 1/2 solution to a 50.0 mL volumetric flask. This is my 1/4 concentrated solution. I repeated two more time until I had a 1/16 concentrated solution. I then determined the flow times of each solution. I need to calculate the concentration of each polymer solution in grams of polymer per 100 ml of solution. (assume additivity of volumes) How do I calculate these concentrations????
Explanation / Answer
initial conc = 2.08gm/ 100ml
1st dilution conc= 1.04gm/100ml
2nd dilution= 0.52gm/100ml
3rd dilution = 0.26gm/100ml
4th dilution= 0.13gm/100ml
