Reflect on the readings and your own personal experiences with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Think of Philanthropy as one element under a CSR umbrella. Other elements could include: Ethics, Environmental Care and Sustainability, to name a select few. Design/Create a new product or service-based organization of your own and address the following: 1.Construct a “simple” [4 – 5 steps] marketing plan and cite at least two (2) metrics centered on a philanthropic initiative. Provide an example of each. 2. Is this a strategic marketing application that can be used to: grow sales, solidify [new] brand, etc? 3. How does the philanthropic set of initiatives stack up to the targeted competition? Will the consumer pay attention to this as they assess using your company? If not, how can you drive a process to gain attention? If yes, then how should or will your company interface? 4. Develop at least two go-forward recommendations and include a paragraph of closing, in-depth conclusions using course and researched materials to pull the assignment together.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to strategies corpration or firms conduct their business in a way that is ethical, society friendly and beneficial to community in terms of development. The issue of corporate social responsible has been debated since the 1950s. Latest analyses by seechi (2007) and lee (2008) reported that the definition of CSR has been changing in meaning and practice. The classical view of CSR was narrowly limited to philantrophy and then shifted to the emphasis on business-society relations. Particularly referring to the contribution that a corporation or firm provided for solving social problems. In the early twentieth century, social peformance was tied up with mareket performance. However CSR can encourage management to take the initiative in raising both ethical standards and justice in society through the ethic of economizing, i.e. economize the use of resources under the name of efficient resource mobilization and usage. By doing so, business doing creates wealth within society and provides better standards of living.

CSR simply refers to strategies corporations or firms their business in a way that is ethical and business friendly. CSR can involve a range of activities such as working in partnership with local communities, socially sensitive investment, developing relationships with employees, customers and their families, and involving in activities for environmental conservation and sustainability.

Corporate philantrophy or corporate social responsibilty are closely related concepts in that philantrophy is a slice of the bigger corporate social responsibility pie. When integrated into a company's mission and used to guide a companys' actions, corporate social responsibility can benefits the communities it serves, the company itself and its employees. Philantrophy is a company's way of giving back to its community local, regional,national or international through financial donations and non cash contribution such as time, expertise and tangible goods like computers medicine, food and textbooks. Companies can donate to charities and nonprofits by giving directly from the companies cash or assets, fundraising through its employees and fundraising from others.

The CSR sector is in its nascent stage, there is tremendous potential protection to inovate and action solutions. Everyday brings the opportunity to learn something new and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

In 2013, The Yes Foundation launched its flagship progrramme, 'YES I AM THE CHANGE (YIAC)' which serves as a platform to facilitate a connection between youth and social causes, triger inner transformation of youth and connect their untapped energy to voices less heard through the impactful medium of flims. While developing this program, we followed the mantra of our chief mentor, Mr Rana Kapoor- 'visualise, actualise and strategies'. The project fetures a series of basic flim workshops followed by a flimmaking challenge and flim festivals across the country. It is a matter of great pride that in less than three years, YIAC has emerged as world's largest social flim movement.

The role of CSR as follows

It is concluded that CSR is about business, government and civil society collaboration with the bottom line is the acievement of win-win situation among the three entities. From the social point of view, CSR should benefit community the latter has a very complex structure as it consists of individuals with various level of control of the resources physically and intangibly. The analysis on this theories allows the understanding of CSR that goes beyond its traditional meaning. Therefore CSR necessitates a multideciplinary approach in its prespective and practice.
