The new class of DDoS attacks with new historical volumes of up to and beyond 600 Gbps performed by armies of hundreds of thousands of IoT devices. The Mirai botnet played a lead role in these attacks. Mirai was devised to target and infect IoT devices which have their Telnet access open and which can be easily compromised via factory default credentials. Explanation:

The IoT are being targeted with devices such as DVRs, unsecured routers and connrcted IP cameras as the massive numbers of devises being used as botnets and huge numbers of traffic sent across these sites to take it down. This IoT are very simple to create simple hack and these botnets are being targeted recently with massive traffic. Major traffic of hacking come from Asia, mainly from China, Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan. These hackers are using Generic Routing Encapsulation to perform these type of attacks. GRE mostly been overlooked by firewalls and don't block tariffic protocols. Olympic cameras was also attacked using these ditributed denial of services(ddos). Krebs site was also being targeted by these types of attacks having over 500 Gbps traffic.
