Explanation / Answer

From among these three theories, Kant’s duty ethics theory most appalled to me. In this theory Kant says that we can setup valid absolute rules through reasoning and human being should obey these rules. The critical factor of this theory which attract me is that no rule is universal and time immoral, it does change according to the change of time and evolution of the society. Any rule which was treated as pious in earlier time may not be that much pious or somehow abandoned in the present time. This theory talks about pragmatic aspect of life which people should follow in the society.

In Divine command theory, more emphasis is on divine command which we have not seen only belief due to our thoughts and worship and in this theory, it is difficult to interpret command. In Ross’s prima facie duties, it is difficult to know and decide which duties are prima facie. When there will be two duties in same line it will be difficult to decide which duty should supersede other one.

One of the moral infractions is lying. If one goes by other theories that lying is not permitted in the society by divine order. Through Kant’s duty ethics theory, we can handle this situation by asking the person who is lying as what caused that person to lie. There must be a reason due to which the person is lying. If terrorist captured a person and try to extract information from that person, then the victim can lie to the terrorist. In this case lying of that person is justifiable.
