Learning Activity 1
Leadership involves one person influencing and motivating his or her peers to help complete a specific goal or task (Lumen Learning). Typically, leadership comes into play in the business world or in teams. The leader of a department in a company would ensure that everyone is everyone involved wants to complete the task, like, maybe coming up with a new marketing campaign or a budget. In teams, leaders involve every player and motivate them to come together and win the game. The people below the leader are called followers (Lumen Learning). Management varies a little from leadership. Managers carry the role of bringing others together to get a task done in the most effective way for the company (Lumen Learning). By definition, the two seem almost the same. But, the difference between them is that managers stick to set processes that have been proven to work and leaders challenge the ordinary way of doing things.
For Biotech, I would suggest a mix of engaging and participative leadership. Because the company makes cosmetics products and cares about what its consumers think, it would be a great idea to include its employees in these decisions, in the way that, what they would like to use and see could relate to potential customers. It is another way to reach out and ensure these products would be successful. Both of these styles include the workers in decisions in some way. Engaging leadership involves listening to employees concerns about their workplace or what they are producing too (Lumen Learning). This style has also been proven to keep employees working at the same institution for an extended amount of time as they feel important (Lumen Learning). Similar, participative leadership includes employees in decisions, but, also focuses on teams (Lumen Learning). Both styles would be effective for Biotech’s purposes of reaching their goal of eco and customer friendly products.
Mission statements make the company’s objective clear to its consumers and how the company will achieve this particular mission (Bain & Company). In Biotech’s case, its mission statement would ensure the production of safe products for humans and that these products were sustainably produced and the ways in which it will do this. The vision statement would describe where Biotech sees itself going in the future, where it will be and what it will be producing (Bain & Company). This could be a new location or new products the company wants to try out.

Mission Statement- To make our consumers feel and look their best with only environmentally friendly products- for the best of all of us.
Vision Statement- To continue to innovate the cosmetic industry and our environment at the same time.
Explanation / Answer
The feedback is given below:
1. Leaders act as a guide and monitor their team to achieve on the goals of the organization. Leaders have a specific skill and ensure their team to complete on their tasks which impact on managing to achieve the goals of the organization.
2. The manager's would always have a set process and ensure to follow to complete on the tasks, but a leaders will create a new ways to achieve the goals.
3. For biotech, a participative leadership is important because the team member can share their views and ideas which impact on collecting more information and decisions can be taken according to that.
4. The employees will not be ideal as they will take on the responsibility to achieve the vision, mission and objectives.
5. The leader and the team together would produce new products and that ensure the company to increase the sustainability in the market and satisfy on the needs of the customers.
