From the text: Management Leading and Collaborating in a Competitive World, 12th ed; (2016) authors: Bateman, Snell & Konopaske; Publisher: McGraw-Hill; ISBN-13: 978-1-259-546945, please respond to the following questions in Chapter 3: Saul Garlick's Social Enterprise: Nonprofit or For-Profit? (text pg. 83) Complete the following questions (approximately one-page submission):

(1) What are the advantages and disadvantages of market-based solutions to problems in developing countries?

(2) Would you consider attending a ThinkImpact learning program in an international location? Why or why not?

Explanation / Answer

Market-based solutions:
market
-based instruments (MBIs) are policy instruments that use markets, price, and other economic variables to provide incentives for polluters to reduce or eliminate negative environmental externalities.

Advantages of market-based solutions in response to developing countries

1. provide great flexibility and financial incentives, they can spur producers to adopt the new technologies and facilities to pursue better results in order to solve the environmental problems.

2. using market-based solutions, we can provide great flexibility and financial incentives, they can spur producers to adopt the new technologies and facilities to pursue better results in order to solve the environmental problems.

3. Market-based solutions connect the “incentive” with “economy” and show that making use of an environmental protective incentive in an appropriate way could finally achieve a cost-efficient process.

And Disadvantages.

1. Technology innovation and relevant problem are somewhat uncertain and variable both in finance and management. The choice of obeying the old stable way or trying a new approach is hard to decide when put into practice.

2. As regards the general public, who do not understand the significance of the market-based instruments, they become an obstacle to the achievement of the instruments

3. The market-based mechanism makes the environmental costs more transparent. More specifically, individuals and companies will pay for the environmental factors in their consumption, which will certainly lower their enthusiasm towards the market-based instruments.

I would consider attending the Thinkimpact learning program abroad to gather my consciousness towards ecological aspects and their visions to contribute to the change for the welfare for our sole existence
