Question
students are required to critique two peer drafts, providing substantive feedback and discussion. As a Reviewer: 1. Take the time to read the drafts thoroughly. Refer to the Final Project Document as you review your peers’ work. You might want to read through each component in its entirety and then jot down your first impressions. Then, you will want to read it a second (and even a third) time to develop your critique. 2. You are critiquing the work, not the person. Your goal is to help the author achieve his or her goal. The critique should start with the strengths of the work. What works and why? Identify at leasttwo places in which the writer does something successfully, and provide concrete examples. 3. Next, suggest any areas for revision. Keep the tone positive and provide concrete suggestionsforrevision. 4. Explanation / Answer
1. Critique peer draft:
In this case author has done a very good job and given a detailed analysis of company environment in the form of swot analysis.with this analysis it will be give a clear picture of company's environment in which they are operating its business.other thing that i liked about this case , Author has also given good explanation of situation and the main goal of the company. This case is a good example of a company that has main focus on marketing objective of providing value to the customers and management has a clear strategy to achieve that goal.
I would like to provide a few suggestions here. In the beginning, Author has introduced the company with its name, then suddenly a name comes "MR. Brad Hirsch" in the explanation. It would be easy to understand for the readers if author would have give a brief introduction about the designation of that person who is making all the decisions in this case.To build a case it is very important to start with a proper introduction of company and main persons in that case, then another thing author should include is proper formate like after introduction a brief background information to explain the reason or situation why is this case study has been developed, then author should present the problems in this case and what are the solutions or alternative solutions with different methods.finally author should present the conclusion of this case.
Author has used enough Material and information to build the case but still its a little bit disappointing the proper formate was not used to present this case.If author work on these things It may be helpful for us readers to understand it in a better way.
2) Critique peer draft:
Author has built this case very well and in this case he has explained and treated the actual problems of the Company at the time of recession 2008( Decline in revenue in specific regions and reduced customer spending due to recession, need to improve the non gaming entertainment to fulfil the customers expectations and to improve the customer ratings from B to A) and provided the strategies that company is going to use to deal with these problems such as lean principles and Kaizen system of improvements with the clear objective of improving customers' services.Author has clearly mentioned the strength and weakness ; and also explained the opportunity and threat of company environment.
But to improve the readability of this case author should have written this case in proper continuity and should have presented the concise and accurate explanation of lean process and Kaizen system. It would be better if the author define these methods more precisely to achieve the goal of the comapny.
There are few other points that should be clarified:
Other suggestion i would like to give that author could have presented this case like a detective story, like it starts with the crime and jot down all the information to solve this case . In a case, author could have start by raising a problem or a question and then build a whole case to solve these problems.
