Question
Is it possible to do a cross invloving a single autosomal dominant disease gene in which among the offspring the disease: healthy phenotype is observed at a 1:1 ratio? If so explain by listing the genotypes and phenotypes od the parents that would be involved. Is it possible to do a cross invloving a single autosomal dominant disease gene in which among the offspring the disease: healthy phenotype is observed at a 1:1 ratio? If so explain by listing the genotypes and phenotypes od the parents that would be involved.Explanation / Answer
single autosomal dominant disease gene;
yes the phenotypic ratio will be at 1;1 . the single autosomal dominant disease will have vertical pattern of inheritance . one of the offspring will have the disease gene . most commonly male pattern of inheritance is seen .one copy of allele is required for the inheritance .they dont skip generation .examples are muscular dystrophy and huntington disease.
genotypes and phenotypes od the parents that would be involved.
AA {male ] and AA [female] will be the genotype . in this male has the disease carrier gene .
so the phenotypic ratio will be A A ; A A ; AA ;AA; ,A -allele for the dominant gene ratio is 1;1;1;1, there is 50 percent chance of offspring getting the allele for the disaese gene
so the ratio is 1;1
