Question
One of the constants in organizations is the presence of change. In almost all change scenarios, human behavior is impacted. However, organizational members often resist change. Why do people resist change? From your personal experience and research, identify five to seven reasons why change is resisted. Provide examples from your organization or an organization that you know. Also, identify a strategy of leading and managing change. In other words, how would you go about overcoming the resistance to change and generating positive organizational behavior? Based on your findings, write a three- to four-page paper in APA format. PLEASE LIST ALL REFERENCES!Explanation / Answer
(1) A solution which has become increasingly
popular for dealing with resistance to change is to
get the people involved to "participate" in making
the change. But as a practical matter "participation" as a device is not a good way for management
to think about the problem. In fact, it may lead to
trouble.
(2) The key to the problem is to understand the
true nature of resistance. Actually, what employees
resist is usually not technical change but social
change
