Biology 1113 Research Project: Statistical Analysis I

You must discuss the statistical analysis of your results with me before you attempt to do this test (5 pts). You are going to determine whether there is a significant difference between your different treatments. You may also need to compare the control in each treatment to the other dishes, pots (whatever your experimental unit is). For this you need an unpaired t-test, which is a comparison of two means. The following are some general guidelines; however, there may be some differences depending on your experimental design.

Determine the number of germinated seeds in each pot (or whatever the dependent variable is in your case). The sample size (n) is the number of pots you use in each treatment.

  By conventional criteria, this difference is considered to be not statistically significant.

Confidence interval:
  The mean of Group One minus Group Two equals 1.50
  95% confidence interval of this difference: From -4.26 to 7.26

so the P-value is greater than 0.05 accepting the null hypothesis where it shows that there is no significance phenomena no relation between two groups
