The level of trauma care provided and covered are: (i) combined systems injury of head, chest, abdomen etc. (ii) central nervous system injuries like spinal cord injury, cerebral spinal fluid leak etc (iii) penetrating injuries like penetrating injuries of head and neck, injuries of the trunk etc. (iv) some of the chest injuries like major chest wall injury (v) pelvic disruption with shock (vi) secondary deterioration.

The requirements for these facilities that affect the trauma registrt is that they should submit the following data to the registry - first quarter discharges on or before 1st July, second quarter discharges on or before 1st October, Third quarter discharges on or before 1st January of the following year and fourth quarter discharges on or before 1st April of the following year. Studies on the basis of the use of the trauma program in the state: There is a study titled "The New York State Trauma System - a special report on pediatric trauma" 1994-1998. This study was undertaken by the New York State Department of Health.
