Explanation / Answer

Slide 1.

Introduction-

Stress is a condition or feeling experienced when a man sees that "requests surpass the individual and social assets the individual can prepare." to put it plainly, it's what we feel when we think we've lost control of occasions.

Stress management defines stress precisely as a person's physiological response to an external stimulus that triggers the "fight-or-flight" reaction.

Review of literature-

1. Kavitha in her research titled Role of stress among women employees forming majority workforce at IT sector in Chennai and Coimbatore (2012), she has focuses on the organizational role stress for the employees in the IT sector.

2. P.S. Swaminathan,& Rajkumar S. in their work on Stress levels in Organizations and their Impact on Employees’ Behavior (2013). They have conducted a study that focused on the levels of stress among the age group, profession, different varieties of jobs, hours of work and the influence of work environment on the degree of stress faced by employees.

Slide 3.

Aim-

Aim of this presentation is to give acute knowledge about stress management and its causes.

Slide 4.

Measures-

Time And Stress- Stress is a result of doing things at the wrong times. It is a result of managing time and striving hard to stick to deadlines. By developing the art of time management people can reduce stress. Effective time management and stress management are inter dependent.

Slide 5.

Interventions-

The evaluation of organizational stress management interventions has proved challenging for researchers and practitioners alike. Traditionally, researcher designed quasi-experiments have been regarded as the method for evaluating such interventions. However, relatively few such studies have been satisfactorily completed in organizations, and many of those that have did not adequately take account of intervention processes. This article presents an approach to evaluation that can help to overcome these problems. Two empirical studies are presented that demonstrate that measurement of the intervention process can be used to adapt and shape the design of the evaluation. In both studies, process evaluation incorporating the measurement of intervention exposure was used to partition participant samples. This approach has the potential to enable and strengthen quantitative outcome evaluation in situations where controlled quasi-experimentation is not possible.

Result-

In order to develop an effective stress management programme it is first necessary to identify the factors that are central to a person controlling his/her stress, and to identify the intervention methods which effectively target these factors. Lazarus and Folkman's interpretation of stress focuses on the transaction between people and their external environment (known as the Transactional Model). The model conceptualizes stress as a result of how a stressor is appraised and how a person appraises his/her resources to cope with the stressor. The model breaks the stressor-stress link by proposing that if stressors are perceived as positive or challenging rather than a threat, and if the stressed person is confident that he/she possesses adequate rather than deficient coping strategies, stress may not necessarily follow the presence of a potential stressor.

Slide 7.

Lessons learned-

1. Identify the source of the stress.

2. Use information to come to a clear understanding of the problem and its root causes.

3. Generate possible solutions to the problem.

4. Evaluate the strength and weakness of each solution.

5. Determine the potential risks and benefits of each solution as well as the consequences.

6. Select the solution that is most appropriate.

7. Carry out your plan and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the solution.

Slide 8.

The steps listed above totally fits the PDSA model. It starts with plan- do- study- act.
