Example 1:
In this example two brothers and a puppy are involved. One of the brothers has hurt a puppy due to short temper and now realised his mistake.He apologised regarding the same to his brother .Here, I need to assume that I am one of the brothers, the one who has to take a decision about his brother now. The ethical dilemma is that whether to give my brother a chance or hand over him to the authorities. According to many theories, supporting a wrong-doer is also wrong. Now, If I support my brother I would also do a mistake. But he has apologised. Also, If I hand over him to authorities , he might get mentally disturbed too and that might worsen his behavior. Since my brother accepted to his mistake and realised that he shouldn't have hurt the puppy, I feel he deserves a chance to prove himself. I would not hand over him to the authorities,but he should be punished for what he did. Punishments could be doing the garden work entirely by him for a week.
Example 2:
Ethical concerns here are whether to retain that customer and make a baby suffer or incur the losses to the store. Many stores adjust such difference against salaries of employees and if my friend is let go, employees would suffer for no mistake of theirs. The other way of handling this issue would be my friend explaining her situation to staff and getting her items billed first. Now she has already done that what to do now is the major concern. If she is held back for prosecution her baby would suffer more. What can be done instead is me staying back at the store till my friend returns after completing her work or me explaining the store mangaers the situation and pay the bills and apologise.
