Given the performance of the economy and business over the past few years it is clear that there is a leadership problem in the public and private sectors today. Business leaders are concerned with the lack of experience and skills issues with college students entering the workplace. Do you feel that you are preparing yourself for a leadership position in the business world? The 7 lessons from the Grateful Dead might be an amusing story but there is a lot of truth in there. Do you feel it offers you any insight on how to succeed in business?Explanation / Answer
Answer: (1) I feel that I am preparing myself for the future business leadership position but not in a right manner. Through my college course I am able to get insights about how businesses are managed and how a business leader should behave. I have also done some part time works to get some practical experience but still I feel that both these things are not enough. I feel that I need mentorship in order to prepare myself as a business leader as only practical guidance can help me in developing in the right direction. The skills and competencies which I have developed are not of the professional level. Therefore I feel that though I am preparing myself as a business leader but that preparation is not up to the mark.
(2) Yes I feel that it offers many lessons and insights about how one can succeed in business. It teaches that how even young entrepreneurs can succeed in tough business conditions if they have a will to do so. For success in business not only the traditional skills of doing business can work but the new skills can also work wonder. It is therefore important that along with the traditional skills, the leaders also learn and develop the new tools and techniques of doing business.
