Explanation / Answer
1) Learner outcome is considered critical while selecting the type of training for group or individual because these outcomes for the basic objective of any training. Any training is designed based on what result is required for the audience to learn. What a learner should know or do at the end of training forms the Goal of any training program.
A training program can be measured or quantified on the basis of where these learning objectives were met at the end of the program and if the program was successful or not. If any learner outcome is not as desired then the improvements in the training program can be planned accordingly.
3) There are several learning theories used by the trainers to meet the learner’s objectives in best possible manner. One of the theories popularly followed by trainers is: “Social learning theory” which is based on the cognitive skills of people where they learn by observing the consequences of past actions or even by observing action of others. The main influencers of this theory are modelling, past consequences, motivation and logical verification. So any word of encouragement or persuasion of peers can help inspire to achieve the learning objectives. Logical and cognitive behaviour can help to study the past consequence and their affects which in turn will help in improving learning. In modelling, the people who already have completed theses training successfully will inspire and motivate the trainees for better learning outcomes.
Thus in learning process, Social learning theory plays a very important role. It helps to design the training programs with help of influencers who can motivate a large no. of learner group. It also ensures that learners achieve their objective by exploring their own past behaviour and consequences to improve their own skills.
Incorporating Adult learning theory is helpful in the design process of a training program because it ensures that the instructors are able to create training and development programs for adults to meet their demands for each phase of their career. How does an adult learn, what motivates or influences, is the base for designing these training programs so as to meet the skill and training needs of their entire career path. Adults bring their past experience during training which helps them adapt better to the new training because the adult needs keeps evolving. As and when one need if fulfilled for an adult, he or she will have another requirement which will require another redesigning of training programs to help the person learn.
4)Open skills are more of generic skills which can be used at any point of time in the career graph while closed skills are more specific to the job at hand so as to be used only in the particular company and for the same job profile. Accordingly the training program should be designed to keep more generic personality building programs to develop the open skills of a person while closed skills should be organized by highly technically strong experienced trainer who has more knowledge of a particular profile and will connect with the audience.
Near transfer is when the training program is very specific to the requirements of the company so the learner is able to meet his or her KPIs. However for Far transfer, the skill training is to ensure knowledge that the learner will be able to work in any industry. The training programs will be more generic which will apply in multiple work scenarios.
