HIM professionals are involved in planning, collecting, aggregating, analyzing and disseminating individual patient and aggregate clinical data.The four interrelated components of HIM are data, information technology, process and users.

An EHR implementation will require many teams including HIM, IT, Privacy, Resource planning, Subject matter experts form individual departments, etc..The HIM director will definitely be involved with all these teams.

EHR Risk managemnt team would see HIM director as a team member.
