Explanation / Answer
Deviation It refers to difference between the desired values and actual values. For example, the HVAC is set for temperature of 20o C and it only able to maintain 22, then there is a deviation of 2o C
Manipulated Variables It refers to parameters that can be changed manually to maintain the temperature such as compressor speed or rotation of the fan.
Direct acting When the speed of compressor increases or the flow of refrigerant increases in HVAC, the cooling increases. This is known as an Increase/Increase (III) relationship, or a direct acting relationship element.
