Explanation / Answer

Emotional Intelligence and Emotional maturity are 2 different entities. While EI is the way of identifying and dealing with one’s emotions, EM is the way in which one handle’s difficult situations.

i) Emotional Intelligence is one of the factors on which performance is dependent. The other factors, which decide performance, are motivation, empathy, self-awareness and self-regulation. So, if a person is high on EQ does not necessarily mean that he is high on performance as well or vice versa.

ii) In my views, age or experience is a positive influence on the rate of emotional maturity but they are not the only factors, which decide its level or status. Emotional maturity evolves on the basis of how one relates to self, how an individual identifies his integrity and emotion triggers and how he practices self-discipline. Very young kids have been measured to be quite high on emotional maturity because their upbringing was focused on evolving that. So, age is mere a number when we talk about emotional maturity.
