1. Maslow's hierarchy of needs: In your opinion, is this theory generally true? Why/why not? According to Maslow, how does base pay affect motivation? According to Maslow, are incentive programs effective?

According to Maslow's hierarchy there is need of money in the very root level of the need pyramid which comprises of food and shelter which is the preliminary security that a man can buy with money and subsequently help in ascending to the other better levels of satisfaction and motivation.
According to Herzbergs two factor theory , motivation ok worlplawo Is directly derived from the hygiene of the workplace in terms of workplace culture , employee subordinate relationship, employee superior relationship, culture and policies. These are determinants of the employees motivation at work place. Incentives are at times demotivating if given much less than the expectations and also when a peer gets more with same amount of caliber displayed.
According to Vroom an employees peforperfor is only based on ones skillset, knowledge, experience . This it is very much essential to train and develed an employee periodically in order to keep a pace of upgrading skills matched with the daily work updation and automation.
According to equity theory , an employee seeks result in am expectation of how much of the input Is put . Thus , if an employee is not drawing the least of the expected salary , the bmain return one works for, it works as a demotivator. Thus with the same amoiam of input by two teams and the other being recognized, gives out a demotivation in terms of non fulfilling output against same amount of input . To change the situation to motivate employees , the employer should specifically maintain standard achievable goals and state the exact returns in terms of perks ratio on achieving those goals
According to reinforcement theory an example that can be cited where employees are demotivated is a punishment reinforcement without any fault of the employees and no proper research on the deeds and what has been the case before deciding on the punishment.
Goal setting is a very effective method of performance evaluation against smart goals which are specific measurable and time bounded. Without goal setting, there would be no valued performance how much ever you put effort for it . And for all to work on the same objectives it is very much required to distinctly set the goals in order to have am uniformity in the overall performance gaging.
