Functional organizational structure: in this structure, grouping of reporting relations are based on specialty, or functional area. For example different departments are there for accounting, marketing, IT etc. The heads of each of these department will report to the CEO.

Divisional organizational structure: Under this system, several parallel teams focus on a single product or service line. For example Citibank has parallel service lines like retail, commercial etc.

Matrix: Under this system, reporting relationships are set up as a grid. Employees report to the function manager as well as the product manager.

Team based: In this system, employees are grouped on the same employment level into teams that perform specific job functions. his structure combines the low-overhead, minimal management structure of a lateral structure with the team efforts common to a hybrid structure.

Virtual network: this structure uses the internet. It is a type of boundrless organization.

I would select the functional structure because this system produces increased operational efficiency. Employees develop and hone their skills to become specialists. I am a producer of conveyer belts (a standardized goods) and this type of structure best suits my organization.

Google: very recently Google announced a new organizational structure. Google has created a new company called Alphabet. Alphabet is a collection of companies. Under this model, the collection of companies will each have a different CEO. This is like a mix of functioanl and divisional structure.

Walmart: the company is constructed into a three product divisional structure. This results in a better communication between headquarter and stnad alone stores. The structure is divided into 3 categories - product, market and geographic.

Control process involves establishment of standards. This is the easiest for a functional structure. Measurement of actual perofrmance is standard across all types of structures. Comparing of perofrmance with the standars is also standard across all types of structures.
