At workplace formal and informal social system are used in order to communicate across various departments.
Formal social system include communication through office email ID, official Document, office intranet software, board meeting, etc.
Informal social system include communication in office canteen, social events organised by the company, informal parties with the office colleagues,etc.
By using formal social system that reflects the competency of an individual or an employee effect the career progress in an organisation. Informal social system helps in increasing the bonding among the team member which ultimately impacts the effectiveness of the team and the organisation. Informal social system also help in building long term relationship which can impact the career in long term. Office gossips are the biggest disadvantage with the workplace communication system. Hence it is important for the employee to ensure not to get involved in negative gossip. Instead communicate positive qualities of team member.
