A software project implemented at work was a database management system for students at a training and recruitment centre, which was designed using the systems development life cycle process, to be precise the Waterfall model which is a sequential model process where the input phase results from the previous phase. These five phases were planning, analysing, designing, developing and testing.
In the planning stage the objectives of the project decided and finalized. The major objectives word entry and maintenance of all student details and ability to view them in easy report form, to be able to get details for students on a differential course wise, batch wise, or other bases. The software should allow for easy addition and modification of records, user friendly and able to generate data for multiple users such as management comma marketing and accounts.
Analysis of the requirements is essential for entering the designing step through gathering of system and user requirements. Various suitable scripting language and database were compared and the web servers that would support the selected language as the web server is necessary for delivery of the content to the web browser. Apache http server was elected due to its high level performance through Research and testing for viewing the outcome of various servers, those including PHP and MySQL within the installation packages were selected for testing as they would allow better and simpler download process. Wamp and lamp server however exhibited better performance and interface. Use case analysis was performed to present the functionality of the selected program.
System of design to enable the administrator Vento oil details was easily navigable to ensure registration and enrollment put all be managed through a single process. Database creation show user friendly screen and the default storage engine in the MySQL server was in no DB which has capabilities of rollback and crash recovery to provide protection to user data.
The system has finally tested to ensure that it is working as desired and all requirements and objective have been fulfilled through adequate representation and implementation. The system was presented to the user after implementation for acceptance and satisfaction. The system being used on real time demonstrate easy navigation and ability to store data in a systematic way reciting and improvement in efficiency and simplification of work processes. Maintenance of the system is ensured that the system is robust and flexible for inherently minimising crashes and requirements for repair, and easily upgradable for future enhancement thrpugh utilisation of Advanced technology and devices.
