Explanation / Answer

1.

Microsoft Corporation is one American company that has made successful presence across the globe. It has huge demand as well as market share in India and China. Product offerings include Windows OS, MS Office and recently acquired smart phone business of Nokia among the others. In online space Microsoft is also present with Bing Ad network in association with Yahoo. Four points mentioned above successfully apply for this company.

Microsoft also provided financial assistance to its competitor Apple Inc. It showed a nice gesture towards the major competitor as Microsoft products are direct rivals to Apple Products. Now, Windows OS are also operational in MAC systems.

In recent times, it can be observed that Microsoft Corporation is facing challenges from all quarters but they also reinventing themselves to redevelop new competitive advantages over the peers.

2.

There is no any concrete evidence for the complete failure of any company in overseas market, all the time. But, varied degree of success is experienced my many companies. For example, Walmart entered in to Indian market in joint venture with Bharti but it could not succeed and Walmart rolled back its operation. Google Inc. also faced problem in China w.r.t. the censorship of the content. Though, Google and Walmart are two most successful companies in USA.

3.

Point no. 4 is the most challenging task as emerging markets are still in formative stage as far as technological advancement and social change are concerned. Ascertainment of the degree of success in these emerging market is very difficult (if not impossible) task. Also, societal preferences are not yet changed to embrace the global culture. Thus, localization of global thinking is very mandatory. In the past, failed experience of Kellogg’s has already proved it.
