Question

Read “Case A: A Healthy Investment at Sisters of Charity Providence Hospital on p. 270 of your textbook (HRA-340 Organizational Training and Development) (Employee Training and Development - 6TH 13 Noe).

Answer the following questions (based on questions in your text): What outcomes should the hospital collect to determine how well their Leading Edge training program worked? What level(s) of evaluation should be used? From a practical perspective, how easy or difficult will it be to effectively evaluate the Leading Edge program?

Explanation / Answer

Well, after going through the information about the above mentioned case, the goals of the Leading Edge Program per our text are:
• Includes a curriculum focusing on both performance and financial management
• To develop and recruit top talent
• To change management
• Focusing on the performance needs and weaknesses of middle managers
Based upon the goals of the program results outcome would be most beneficial in determining the success of the training.

Ideally, the Pretest/Post-test with comparison Group would be the best evaluation design for the Leading Edge Program. Charity Providence Hospital through its training program, has multiple areas to test in the realm of customer service and management. Test subjects would be some of the management team, leaving others for the comparison group. In dividing the teams to managers strategically each team’s performance could be analyzed prior to training as well as after.

In the end, the process of Leading Edge program will not be that easy for the concerned organization and will require much of evaluation to get conducted.
