1. [1 pt] Do the data in Table 1 support the hypothesis of local adaptation by the flies? (YES or NO)

2. [1 pts] Why is it important that your experiment used seeds from other trees as well as Poisontree seeds? (1 sentence)

3. [1 pts] Based on these data, would you expect there to be high levels of fly migration between the two islands? Why or why not? (1-2 sentences)

4. [2 pts] What evolutionary change (if any) in the trees does Table 1 suggest? (1-2 sentences)

Explanation / Answer

(1) Yes, it shows local adaptation since the flies from main island are adapted in various trees of the main island in good number. & also flies from small island adapted to poison tree of the small island in huge number.

(2) Seeds from other species are needed to check the extent of local adaptation behavior and as well as nutrional sustainability parameter of the species of tree itselves.

(3) The extent of fly migration has been noted in case of flies from small island but they are adapted towards the poison tree only, indicating poison tree as their requirement which is exhausting in small island therefore compelling them for migration.

(4) There is no such evolutionary change in trees except that the other species are confined to main land only.

(5) Evolutionary change in flies is possible from the small island since half of them have migrated to main land
