Marcy is an administrative assistant to the purchasing manager of an electronics firm. Marcy had worked happily for her supervisor Mr. DeLisi for 3 years. Two weeks ago, Mr. DeLisi transferred to a new position and Marcy was assigned to work with his replacement, Ms. Minzer. Marcy’s new supervisor is quite capable efficient but very short on patience. She speaks a crisply and concisely to everyone. In her eagerness to please, Marcy is very self-conscious and as a result makes man errors. When Ms. Minzer criticizes her work rather sharply, Marcy burst into tears. Ms Minzer takes Marcy’s tears in stride but becomes extremely irritated with Marcy’s continued apologies for her previous error. Finally, she arranges for Marcy’s to be transferred to another office.

Answer the following:

1. Does Marcy have problem with her self-esteem? Hat evidence do you see to support this conclusion?

2. Is Marcy expecting too much from herself? Should she see herself as a “perfectionist” and embark on a self-improvement program, or should she accept herself as a person who occasionally makes mistakes but learn from them?

1. Marcy has the self esteem problem. i.e., situational esteem problem.

Global self-esteem (about “who we are”) is normally constant. Situational self-esteem (about what we do) fluctuates, depending on circumstances, roles, and events. Situational self-esteem can be high at one moment (e.g., at work) and low the next (e.g., at home).

She is closely work with the Mr.Delisi for 3 years. So a friendly relationship is happened in between them but sudden change of the person and their behavious is not good to marcy so she faced the problem situational self esteem.

2. Marcy is expecting too much from herself. no one is perfectionist in their work.

perfectionist means a person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection.

She cannot accept anytype mistake she done. So she accept herself as a person who occassionally makes mistakes. But she has to learn from every mistake she has done.

3. If marcy goes to Mr,Delisi for friendly advise, He suggested you have to improve your skills, knowledge regarding the work and try to impress the supervisor. whenever she spotted an error in your work try to rectify and learn for that not to repeat that mistake. You have to improve your strengths and talents regarding the work but never brust into tears this will lead to degrading yourself.

Conclusion: One must know about themselves. You have to confident in your work and improve your talent. Time management, stress management, work life balance is more important in the work.Marcy dont understand Minzer attitude and behavoiour so this type situation is happened in between them,
