Project: New car model design, manufacture and release

A well-known multinational company automaker with great prestige and experience in their field, presenting a failure of project in the making, review and release of a vehicle with failures at both internal design and tire, which generated not only great economic losses and at the level of reputation for the company but generated a lot of accidents and lawsuits to the both car and tire manufacturing companies.

The large corporation was working on the release a new SUV, and a quick acceptation was estimated by the attributes of their products. The engineers identified a number of improvements that could be implemented before its release in the market, but the company had scheduled a release date, and for reasons of delay the changes were not considered.

The van was launched in the estimated date and quickly achieved the expected acceptance especially in the US market. In the two years following its release there were some changes to the model, in that year a version of the more luxurious vehicle was achieved in terms of overhead console with compass, outdoor monochrome, among other changes in the external side, but not in their internal design; failures identified prerelease were not yet fully resolved. As a result, customers filed a series of complaints about the tires, since the tire got separated from the tire tread, which caused the vehicle to tip over causing a large number of accidents with tragic cases of deaths (about 200) and about 500 injured. Such tire failure occurred in warm regions with high temperatures.
