Explanation / Answer
HR plays a vital role in the process of strategic planning and achieving goals and objetives of an organization in the following way:
1. selection and staffing: An organization has to hire the right set of people, who will work to fulfill the goals of an organization. HR ensures that the organization has the right people in the right places.
2. Organizational development: The process of strategic planning often requires changes in the current systems and processes in the organization. HR introduces group initiatives to smoothly incorporate the changes that has occured during the planning process.
3. Training and development: HR will ensure that the required skills are developed within the organization. Skill sets will have to be changed and adapted as per the changing requirements of the current situation. The strategic growth process will need proper training and development of the employees.
I work for a equity research company and the company's objective is to grow the organization susbtantially by adding new verticals and business segments. As a result, new analysts are being hired, skill sets are being augmented and a more customer centric work approach is being adopted. The HR division is playing an active role in these aspects.
An example here HR principles and policies have had a good impact on the organization: The HR department has lined up an impressive set of people for the selection process. The applicants have the required competence in terms of educational background and work experience. The candidates have been segregated as per verticals (capital goods, banking and finance, IT, consumer goods etc). They can be initiated in the work process very quickly, due to the stringent filtering done by HR.
