There are various leadership initiatives that can be taken to achieve cultural diversity. They are conducting diversity training, establishing minority recruitment and retention programs and holding managers responsible and accountable for achieving diversity in the workplace. The article talks about the initiative of holding managers, leaders and hiring agencies responsible and accountable for achieving cultural diversity. This initiative will help in the development of an organizational culture that supports diversity.
I agree with the thoughts presented in the article. Holding managers accountable and responsible for achieving diversity is a strong leadership initiative and is bound to show positive outcomes. When the goal and objective of achieving diversity is tied and linked to manager's performance appraisals (and thus affecting their compensation), then cultural diversity will be easily and willingly achieved.
