Coaching is an important element for leadership effectiveness and can be used as an approach to motivation. Leaders who develop and practice coaching skills are more likely to have employees who are engaged and performing at higher levels. Think of a manager you have worked with who is either an effective coach or who would benefit by becoming an effective coach. If effective, describe specifically what he or she does to achieve this. If development is needed, describe the specific deficit and how you might approach developing him or her to become effective. For either example, describe how you will use this information to develop your own coaching skillset.

My manager in previous organization had efficient coaching skills which he used to develop the team working under him. A well trained team is the asset of any organization. He used to have frequent personal meetings with the employees to understand their knowledge and skills gap and trained them by making a coaching schedule. This had two way effect - a) The employees performed better at their jobs b) He won over the loyalty of the employees under him. He also kept his knowledge up to date by reading a lot about the latest technology and talking frequently to the top management to identify the core areas of changes so that he can proactively engage himself with the organization.
I will use this information to develop my own coaching skills in following ways-
