Relationship b/w IT infrastructure and the business capabilities of a firm
There is a direct relationship b/w a good IT infrastructure and the business capabilities of a firm.
Business capabilities simply means how efficiently a firm can operate over a period of time.
IT infrastructure helps in transformation of a firm from a product or service based to innovation based firm. It can transform the way businesses operate, thus reducing cost and providing better consumer service.
Take a very simple example to understand it. Amazon and Flipkart are two major online sellers in some countries. Amazon leads Flipkart when it comes to IT Infrastructure it has. Amazon has a well build up data science team which is working exclusively focusing on the consumers and due to this better IT Infrastructure Amazon is actually able to focus more on its consumer and thus is able to improve the business capabilities. On the other hand, Flipkart also have a team, but its not as good as compared to Amazon, and we can see that Amazon has a very good market share in the world.
With a good IT Infrastructure a firm can go beyond what we could even imagine in its business.
Thus nothing is wrong to conclude that better IT Infrasture a firm have, more strong it is in terms of business capabilities.
