d. Any other factors that had affected the populations, other than plastics themselves directly

The hypothesis can be as follows:

If there is any considerable change in the number or density of poplation of specific type of organisms, after they are exposed to plastic, considering all other factor remain same (like environmental factors, food availability, temperature and water availability, stress conditions, competetion among different organsims), then it may be considered as the affect of plastic.

At what level plastic is affecting organsims, can further be tested. whether toxic substances from plastic are entering food chain or they have any direct affect on the organsisms.
