Question
Write a balanced equation, including phases, for the combustion of liquid propranolol (C3H7OH) to form carbon dioxide gas and liquid water.So far what I have is: C3H7OH(l) --> CO2(gas) + H2O (l)
I just can't figure out the coefficients because no matter what I do, there are too many Oxygen molecules on the right side. Also, I don't really know what the term "phases" means. Explanation / Answer
Combution takes place in presence of Oxygen
C3H7OH(l) +11/2 O2 (g) --> 3CO2(g) + 4H2O (l)
