Question

How to analyze this NMR spectra, and what information can I get from this spectra that will help me to determine the structure of the compound

I just know the molecular formula C10H16. I did proton-proton experiment, so how to analyze this spectra especially the proton, integration information, chemical shift and number of splitting, and if there are any other inforamtion

Note . I did IR analysis, and I got this answer

the NMR spectra

I have to write a lab report, but I do not now what should I write, and how to reed this spectra

Thank you

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

The given molecule C10H16 belong to either camphene (or) terpinolene, there three steps involved in NMR analysis and first step you provided by giving information that the sample is C10H16 hence the rest of other two steps are entering peak data of protons and compiling together for the molar mass from molecular structure determination.

The below tabulation data are collected from the NMR figure provide in the questionnaire starting from youir left hand side,

In order to refine further the ppm shifts are analysed for the NMR spectrum,

From the chemical shift data analysis the molecule is Teripnolene for C10H16
