Question

Read “Point of No Return” and “A Global Overview on Consanguinity”.

Based upon what you have learned and your reading of “Point of No Return,” do you think it is possible that inbreeding could actually result in optimal homozygous conditions that create a “fitter” population than that possible with heterozygous populations? Can inbreeding be good for a population? In a couple of paragraphs, justify your answers to these questions.

In one paragraph, discuss these questions. Is consanguinity an issue in the United States? What about in other parts of the world? Answer in 500 words or less.

Explanation / Answer

I do not think that inbreeding could actually result in optimal homozygous conditions which create a fitter population than that possible with heterozygous population. rerun inbreeding can more so end in disaster rather than in a strong, vibrant line. I is probably too specific to the state as an inclusive conclusion, but probably with example of cheetah an inbred population won't able to do well in the wild on an evolutionary time scale. Since because there is much to be said about natural selection and a population surviving which lacks diversity.

The inbred concept would have to be scrutinized for defects and
totally isolated in its lines sifted . This could be the only way to allow this gene to adapt to an artificial ecosystem. Consanguinity is not been an issue in the United States. We have a very good principle code of ethics and moral standard which mold against marriages between close relatives & discourage such relational practices. although in other cultures, it is even sometimes more preferred to make marriages that are among first cousins or, less commonly, among an uncle and niece . In the United States, there is stigma associated with consanguineous marriage. couples which are Consanguineous may keep their relationship secret due to fears of ostracism, stigma , discrimination, & even the legal prosecution.
