Question
The first picture is the information, and the the second is the actual question. Please explain to me how you get your answer. I am very confused. Thank you in advance :)A certain blend of gasoline (a fuel that is a hydrocarbon) requires 14 parts of air to one part gasoline for optimal combustion (14:1 mass:mass ratio). Gasoline weighs about 2.6 kg/gallon (assuming it is nearly all octane) The automobile that is burning this fuel at that l4:1 ratio runs for 50 miles on one gallon of gasoline. Assume complete, clean combustion of this gasoline with oxygen.
Explanation / Answer
50 miles requires 1 gallon of fuel
Therefore 125 miles require = 125 miles X 1 gallon / 50 miles = 2.5 gallons
weight of gasoline = 2.6 kg/gallon X 2.5 gallons = 6.5 Kg
