ID: 497463 • Letter: C

Question

Calculate the mass percent composition of each of the following:

Part A 0.730 g of Ba and 1.11 g of Br Express your answers using three significant figures. Provide the mass percent for Ba first, and then Br second. Separate the values with a comma. For example: 45.0, 55.0

Mass%:Ba,Br = %

Part B 3.69 g of K and 1.27 g of I Express your answers using three significant figures. Provide the mass percent for K first, and then I second. Separate the values with a comma. Mass%:K,I = % Part

C 3.38 g of N, 0.810 g of H, and 3.91 g of S Express your answers using three significant figures. Provide the mass percent for N first, then H, and finally S - in that order. Separate the values with a comma. Mass%:N,H,S =

4.12 g of C, 0.695 g g of H, and 2.76 g g of O

Express your answers using three significant figures. Provide the mass percent for C first, then H, and finally O - in that order. Separate the values with a comma.
For example: 22.0, 45.0, 33.0

Mass%:C,H,O =

Calculate the percent composition by mass of each of the following compounds.

CaCl2, calcium chloride

Express your answers using two decimal places. Provide the mass percent for Ca first, then Cl. Separate values with a comma. For example, 38.55, 61.45

Na2Cr2O7, sodium dichromate

Express your answers using two decimal places. Separate values with a comma. Provide the mass percent for Na first, then Cr second, and then O. For example, 18.14, 41.22, 40.64

C2H3Cl3, trichloroethane, a cleaning solvent

Express your answers using two decimal places. Separate values with a comma. Provide the mass percent for C first, then H second, and then Cl. For example, 18.14, 41.22, 40.64

Ca3(PO4)2, calcium phosphate, found in bone and teeth

Express your answers using two decimal places. Separate values with a comma. Provide the mass percent for Ca first, then P second, and then O. For example, 18.14, 41.22, 40.64

mass % Ca, mass % P, mass % O =

C18H36O2, stearic acid, a fatty acid

Express your answers using two decimal places. Separate values with a comma. Provide the mass percent for C first, then H second, and then O. For example, 18.14, 41.22, 40.64

Explanation / Answer

I am providing answer for only first few parts because the question is too lengthy to be asked in one question. Also the rest parts are similar and easy to solve.

Part (a)

Mass% Ba = 0.73/(0.73+1.11) * 100 = 39.674

Mass% Br = 100-39.67 = 39.674 = 60.326

Part (b)

Mass% K = 3.69/(3.69+1.27) * 100 = 74.395

Mass% I = 100-39.67 = 39.674 = 25.605

Part (c)

3.38 g of N, 0.810 g of H, and 3.91 g of S

Mass% N = 3.38/(3.38+0.810+3.91) * 100 = 41.728

Mass% H = 0.810/(3.38+0.810+3.91) * 100 = 10

Mass% S = 100-(41.728 + 10) = 48.272
