C) the number of moles of Cu3 (PO4)2 in 37.2 g of Cu3 (PO4)2. D) the mass in grams of 4 formula units of Cu3(PO4)2

Explanation / Answer

Ans A. Two formula units of Cu3(PO4)2 has 6 atoms of copper , 4 atoms of phosphorous and 16 atoms of oxygen.

B. Mass of 1 mol of cupric phosphate is 380.59 g

So 2.75 mole = 2.75 × 380.59 = 1046.62 g

C. Number of moles in 37.2 g of cupric phosphate will be,

37.2 / 380.59 = 0.098 moles

D. Formula unit mass of cupric phosphate is 380.59 amu

So the mass of 4 formula units will be 4 × 380.59 amu = 1522.36 amu

1 amu = 1.66 × 10-24 g

So 1522.36 amu = 1522.36 × 1.66 × 10-24 g = 2.53 × 10-21 g
