Help with these 3 please..
1. Color blindness is X-linked recessive and blood type is autosomal. If two parents who are both Type A and have normal vision produce a son who is color blind and type O, what is the probability that their next child will be a son who has normal vision and is blood type A?
A husband and wife have normal vision, although both of their fathers are colorblind. What is the probability that their first child will be a daughter who is colorblind?
Color blindness is X-linked recessive and blood type is autosomal. If two parents who are both Type A and have normal vision produce a son who is color blind and type O, what is the probability that their next child will be a son who has normal vision and is blood type A?
Explanation / Answer
answer for one ;
colourblindness is a X -linked trait and is sex linked ,as in our case the parents are normal vision and one of them acting as a carrier for the gene with blood group type A , if we take gamates for female parent type A blood -XC Xc carrier allele , male parent with type o blood group XC Y , and having the normal X chromosome ,then the probablity of the child producing the normal vision and type A blood group will be XC Y allele 50 percent chance that is one in 4 children will have normal gene and type A blood group.
answer for the 2;
in order for a child to be colour blind female it should have two chromosomes which are recessive . so in the above case eve though the female parent is normal but have carrier allele and is heterozygous for colour blind as their father is colour blind . male parent will have may have normal gene , so a cross between these two will have children who has allele ; 25 percent for each allele XX,XXc,XY ,XcY
