Which of the following solutes would not be able to cross a typical cell membrane passive diffusion? Mark all that apply. (3 pts.) A disolved oxygen gas C hydronium ions E carbon dioxide B calcium D cholesterol F phosphate C 24. Which of the following statements is false regarding the simlarities between glycerophspholipids and sphingomyelins? Mark all that apply. (4 pts.) A Glycerophospholipids and sphingomyelins are both phospholipids. Glycerophospholipids and elins are both amphipathic. C Glycerophospholipids and sphingomyelins are equally represented in all tissues. D Glycerophospholipids and sphingomyelins both have fatty acid ester linkages.Explanation / Answer
Passive diffusion means the components can cross or pass the cell membrane without any energy. That is energy is not required to cross the cell membrane.
The nonpolar molecules and smallar polar molecule can cross cell membrane by passive diffusion.
From given components only dissolved oxygen gas and carbon dioxide can the cross the membrane becouse both of this are nonpolar molecules.
Calcium and cholesterol is large molecule. Hydronium ion and phosphate molecules is charged and threfore polar molecules. Therefore these molecules cannot able to pass cell membrane by passive diffusion.
