Heat lost by bot body (silver)= heat gained by cold body (water)

Let the equilibrium temperatrue be T.

Mass of silver* spefic heat of silver* Temperature difference= mass of water* specific heat of water* temperature difference

Cp ( J/gm.deg.c) : water= 4.184, silver = 0.233, ethanol= 1.43

20*0.233*(350-T)= 200*4.184*(T-30)

20*0.233*350 -20*0.233T= 200*4.184*T-200*4.184*30

T*(20*0.233 + 200*4.184)= 200*4.184*30+20*0.233*350

T*(4.66+836.8)= 26735, T= 31.59 deg.c

2. for the second case, water at 70 deg.c looses heat and water at 18 deg.c gains heat

Hence 26*4.184*(T-18)= 49*4.184*(70-T)

26*(T-18)= 49*(70-T), T*(26+49)= 49*70+26*18, T= 51.97 deg.c
