Explanation / Answer

Ans. Given,

            Initial [CO] = 0.1510 M

            Change = -X

            Equilibrium [CO] = 0.1510 – X

Also, calculated equilibrium [CO] = 1.52 x 10-2 M = 0.0152 M

So,

            0.1510-X = 0.0152

            Or, -X = 0.0152 – 0.1510 = - 0.1358

            Hence, X = 0.1358

Part B: Equilibrium concentration of [Cl2] = 0.171- X

Putting the value of X = 0.1358 in above statement,

            [Cl2] = 0.171 – X = 0.171 – 0.1358 = 0.0352

Therefore, at equilibrium [Cl2] = 3.52 x 10-2 M

Part C: At, equilibrium []CoCl2] = X = 0.1358 M = 1.358 x 101 M
