Show th·glculaton for the nn ber of moles or co, tor Trial #1 be 4401 below b. Show the caiculation for the number of moles of NaCo, for Trial other steps and trials #2 and 83 on a separate piece of paper Show the Conclusion to Part A. Compare the calculsted number of moles of CO, and NaHCO, in the table above. Which of th three possible reactions, A. B or C, is best supported by these results? (Note that results may not be exacthy whole numbers ) Write the balanced chemical equation below

Explanation / Answer

1. For the first quesiton, by looking at your calculations and the experiment a good conclusion might be

that you have a 1:1 reaction ratio of Acetic acid to NaHCO3

this ratio is true for each reactant and all the products, this is that 1 mole of NaHCO3 will only be able to produce 1 mole of CO2.

2. According to the reaction from part 1 1 mole of acetic acid will react with 1 mole of NaHCO3, assuming that you were performing this experiment using measured stoichiometry proportions (this means that you were not using an excess of acetic acid) then you would obtain a lower mass of NaHCO3, this is because some of the NaHCO3 will remain unreacted because there would not be sufficient acetic acid to consume it and form CO2.

3. The value for the mass of alkaseltzer is blurry i cannot be sure about the exact number

4. errors :

human error : the way you take measurements is not the proper one

maybe you didnt tare the balance

Balance might get wrong results

maybe you didnt cleans your glassware and you have reactant from a previous experiment

*hope this helps =)
