Question
What volume ot water should be added to 7 mL ot a 10 mM ribotlavin stock in order to create a solution with a working concentration of 350 M? . 8. A 10 mL volume ot 75 mM ethanol is necessary tor an experiment. What volumes ot 1 M ethanol stock and water should be combined to produce exactly the required volume at the desired working concentration? 9. A 3 mL volume ot a solution containing an unknown concentration ot HCI is added to 7 mL ot water. It is then determined that the concentration of the HCI in the diluted solution is 630 mM What was the concentration of HCl in the original solution?Explanation / Answer
Ans 7 :
Using the formula , M1 V1 = M2 V2
where M is molarity and V is volume of the solution
Putting all the values we get :
10 x 10-3 x 7 = 350 x 10-6 X V
V = 200 mL
So the amount of water to be added = 200 mL - 7 mL
= 193 mL
