Question
I am stuck on this last question and am getting some off looking answers can someone tell me if i am on the right track and if not what i am doing wrong:Q: In a testcross of an individual heterozygous for each of the three linked genes, the most frequent classes of progeny were A B c/a b c and a b C/a b c and the least frequent classes of progeny were A B C/a b c and a b c/a b c. What was the genotype of the triple heterozygote parent, and what is the order of the genes?
My answer is the parent genotype is A B C/a b c but i can't figure out the order. I know it is off but I cant figure out where and how to fix it. Thank you for your help.
Explanation / Answer
In above problem, the parental chromosomes are A B c/a b C the gene C is in the middle so, the parental genotype was A c B/a C b. As most frequent classes indicate the alleles present in the parental chromosomes, and the least frequent classes indicates the order of the genes.
